RoundCat Racing

When RoundCat was founded, we used the word “racing” as a cheeky and lighthearted description of our values. To us, racing means: collaborative work toward a shared goal, purposeful design elements, and perhaps most importantly, the sense of enthusiasm that JR, our feline “round cat,” has when he races around the house.

This year we have several exciting projects that are bringing us onto the circuit as a proper racing team and development program.

JGTC Supra

In collaboration with RoundCat Racing Director Daisuke Jomoto, our good friends at Built By Legends, and a well-known Super GT team, we’re giving new life to a retired JGTC Supra that competed in the 2000 and 2001 racing seasons.

Purchased without an engine and transmission by a RoundCat Touring Club member, this car is being rebuilt into a playful monster powered by a Toyota G16E-GTS mated to a sequential transmission.

We believe the G16E is the perfect contemporary successor to the car’s original four cylinder 3S-GTE. Both are turbocharged, small-displacement engines originally developed for rally use.

K4GP N-One RS

RoundCat will debut as a racing team is at K4GP — Japan’s largest endurance series for cars under 800cc.

The cars in K4GP are small, but the racing is serious, with over 100 cars on the grid for the 10 hour race.

We’re building an N-One RS for this series. The N-One is a platform we know and love from three years of exploring Japan in our pair of modified N-One street cars. Removing weight from the car is a major focus of our development. The N-One is light by most standards. but it’s still nearly 200kg heaver than its 1990’s counterparts.

In addition to suspension, braking, and powertrain improvements, we’re developing a CNC bent and notched cage based on chassis scan data — something that isn’t currently available in Japan.
